Writing Engaging Content

How to Rock Your Readers Like a Hurricane
Hurricane

What does powerful, engaging content have in common with the brutal intensity of a hurricane? Quite simply, they are both unstoppable, irresistible forces.

Powerful content must resonate so strongly with the reader that she can’t turn away. Likewise, once you’re caught in the torrential rain, crushing winds, and merciless storm surge of a hurricane, you’ve got no choice but to ride it out to the end.

Strategic SEO

First time I ever visited Lex G's blog -- great content on SEO and Marketing -- I'm sure I'll be visiting again.

Strategic SEO - building an optimal keyword attack formula for bloggers (1/4)

Every entrepreneur or manager knows how important it is to implement long term strategies for different aspects of their business, like marketing, branding and so on. However many still neglect strategy implementation for web business projects. The reason is because of the technical aspect of internet business. If you want to get things right, you’ll need to combine both technical as well as commercial parts. One option is to hire professionals (like search engine optimizers and online business consultants) to do the job, another is to read this article and learn at least the basics yourself.
strategic search engine optimization

Starting an internet business project, be it an affiliate product selling page, or a strategic search engine optimizationblog that’s supposed to attract a lot of traffic is a combination of many connected aspects like online marketing, branding, advertising, copy writing and seo.

Let’s take a look at how the storm develops.

The Storm Hits: Headlines and Hooks

Into the Eye of the Storm: Crystal Clear Body Copy

If your headline is weak, the reader is gone… he boarded up the windows and left town before traffic got bad. That’s because the filtering process is strongest at the headline, and why skillful headline and title writing remains one of your top priorities.

Great info and tips I grabbed of of jack's site -- social bookmarking.
Copywriting Productivity Tools

When I write copy, some tools help me tremendously. Whether it’s the copy itself, or interactions with my clients, there are certain websites I use that help make it a lot easier for me.

Here are some of mine…

Google Writely

Writely is an online web-based word processor. Great for writing copy and sharing/collaborating, especially with other copywriters, clients, associates, etc. The beauty is that it can also import and export in various formats, including MS Word, Rich Text, HTML, OpenOffice, image files, and even zipped files.

Google Analytics

I love Google Analytics. Not only is it free, but Google Analytics is a lot more than your typical traffic and web-tracking software (giving you typical stats like referrers, pageviews, search engine traffic, keywords, etc). It’s also a really cool split-tester and conversion tracker.

Three Ways to Maximize Your Twitter Time for Networking, Marketing and Fun

Earlier this month, Brian confessed that he has succumbed to a newfound Twitter addiction. He’s not alone. Twitter is facilitating all sorts of communication from all sorts of people. But it can be fascinating and distracting all at once.

So, how can you maximize your use of Twitter to benefit both yourself and your followers?

Here are three easy ways to empower your Twittering for networking, marketing and fun:

1. Utilize the “Track” feature

2. Add Value

3. Engage in Fascinating Conversation

Following along the last point, Twitter is best when you’re engaging your followers rather than updating them with the mundane details of your life.

I hope you found those Twitter tips helpful and that your social networking sees a boost as a result. Happy Tweeting!

Selling Digital Products on eBay?

You now have to use the classified, not the auction option.
clipped from www2.ebay.com
***New Policy Update: Digital Downloadable Goods in Classified Ads Format Only***
To preserve the integrity of the Feedback system, effective March 31 all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically must be listed using the Classified Ads format.

Using the Classified Ads format, sellers receive a 30-day ad at a fixed price. This solution enables sellers to continue to market their digital goods on eBay; however, because Classified Ad listings are a lead generation tool and do not result in transactions that go through eBay, Feedback cannot be exchanged between buyer and seller.

Sellers who wish to continue to offer digital goods can do so by selecting the Everything Else>Information Products category in the Sell Your Item form and choosing the Classified Ads format (not auction-style or fixed price).

Create Who You Are ~ a Lesson from Arnold

Create Who You Are ~ a Lesson from Arnold

100ways.gif100 Ways To Motivate Yourself ~ Steve Chandler

I’m a big fan of Steve Chandler.

He gets some flack from some people for reading his own audiobooks (per reviews I’ve read at Audible.com) — he has a bit of a monotone voice… does not sound much like the motivational speakers we have grown accustom to hearing — he is not one of the "rah rah" type of Speakers for sure.

But, the information he gives is truly life changing.

Think of this post as an introduction to Steve Chandler — if you have never heard of him.

Oh yea… a lesson from Arnold.

The movie Arnold had just completed was a big flop.

When Steve asked Arnold what he was going to do next –  now that he had retired from body building.

Arnold said that he was going to become the number one box office star in Hollywood.

Arnold gave him the process that he was going to use to do this — he was going to use the same process he had used in body building.

Live as it was already true.

I am a charter member of Teaching Sells… I’ve been a member since day one.

I do not participate in the huge community they have there very much — it is a time thing with me. But I do spend hours and hours reading just about everything written there.

Top Notch stuff…

What else would you expect from a guy who owns one of the most visited web sites on the Internet.

If you have ever visited Brian Clarks "Copyblogger" site… then you already know about the great information he freely shares there. It is one of the few sites that I visit daily.

He does the same at Teaching Sells — the site belongs to him and Tony Clark.

Here is a bit of info I stole from the Teaching Sells site;

Teaching Sells is Perfect For:

  • Bloggers and online publishers who are frustrated with feeding the Google beast, or who are simply looking for a smart way to monetize existing online content.

Risk Reversal Marketing

clipped from www.andrewdaum.com

Guarantees, Risks and a Fool

One of my favorite all time books on marketing is "Secret Formulas of the Wizard of Ads". Like I have said in the past — don’t own it, get it (both of them).

While checking my email this morning — it reminded me of something I read in the Wizard of Ads.

"If you are not 100% totally satisfied — we will happily refund your money."

This was the guarantee in the email I received. It went on to say that all I had to do was send them $1999.00 — if I did not have more traffic to my web site, then I could request a refund. They would "happily" give me my money back when I returned the program.

Happily?… yea, I believe that. They may in fact refund my money, but I doubt they will do it "happily."

guarantee1.gif

"I’m sitting at a conference table when a client lays down a large check in front of me. He covers the check with his hand and says; "If I give you this money, what can you guarantee me?"

"I guarantee that you will never see this money again."

What if they removed the risk?
