Product Development and Niche Marketing Research

When doing research for niche marketing and developing products... there's really not much different in the steps you take when doing your research.

Product Development and Niche Marketing Ideas: Part 2

Product Development and Niche Marketing Ideas: Part 2

In Part 1 of this series I gave you a resource of products sold using direct mail.

Let’s take this “Idea Generator” one step further.

What about all of those late night infomercials? How did those products do… and what did those who purchased the product think of it.

The reviews are mixed.

Some loved the product they purchased… some said they were outright scams.

Like “Part 1″ of Product Development and Niche Marketing Ideas — this is an “Idea Generator” post.

Take a look at what sold… if you have the time, do a little cross referencing of these products at NextMark.

One product that jumped out at me was Kevin Trudeau’s “Debt Cures”.

His controversial debt cure book had mixed reviews… but there does seem to be a demand for the product, and possibly one that’s better (hint, hint).

Link Building oldie ~ but some still goodie

Except for the linking back to other sites -- trading links, this is still a good article even for today.

If you will notice -- even though this article is six years old, some of the people mentioned are like the "who's who" of SEO and link building today.

131 (Legitimate) Link Building Strategies

July 11,
2002

In search engine optimization, "off page" factors have
become more and more important as they relate to rankings. In particular, solid
link popularity can literally make or break a site with the search engines.

However, one of the most difficult areas of SEO is building link
popularity. Why? Because the engines don't want "artificially
created" (or useless) links, so there are no easy ways to build link
popularity. The days of link farms and huge link exchange programs are over.
Try those strategies now and you can easily find yourself booted out of an
engine.

The Purpose of this Article
Start with the Basics:

Review any Web site to which you want to link *before* writing
to its Webmaster asking for a link. Like all SEO, do it manually. Automating
the task is asking for trouble, especially if you haven't reviewed the site
before asking for the link. (Gil Sery with Search Engine
Optimization Pros)

Linking and Page Rank

I've spent my fair share of money on link building -- primarily buying high PR links back to my sites.

I did not do a scientific test by any means, but I can tell you that the sites where I had high PR links did not get me listed in the search engines any better than those with low or no PR.

This goes against everything I have learned and read... but it is the truth.

I think there are some other factors in play other than PR -- not even sure if PR matters any more.

Sounds crazy, but I'm almost convinced this is true.

Links from relevant sites -- regardless of PR seems to do the trick.

Link Building ~ the Holy Grail to High Search Engine Listings

Link building… the “Holy Grail” to high search engine listings?

Not sure I’d go as far and say that — but many seo Experts say it’s so.

I can say this though… whenever I have linked to a page on this blog from another using a certain technique, it always seems to rank higher.

Or how about this one;

utility poster video

I’m #1 for that phrase in Google.

So how did I do it?

I used some of that “Holy Grail” Linking those seo Experts talk about… and it was easy (and free).

Information Overload

I've been like a hamster on a treadmill for quite awhile now.

I'm sure you are as well.

With all the email we receive -- people pitching us products... sharing the secrets of the universe... how to get rich by the time we go to bed -- and the product launches -- getting the same email from 30 or 40 people day after day.

It has to end.

So I ended it.

I put to high a price on my time to read email after email -- that have no true value to me, just so these folks can pitch me their latest and greatest whiz banger.

Unsubscribe ~ You’ve got mail

I did something that I’ve needed to do for a long time… I unsubscribed from over one hundred (yep, over a 100) lists I had subscribed to over the last few years.
After that… I decided it was time to delete a few bookmarks of sites I frequent far to much. Over the years, I had bookmarked literally thousands of sites — deleted all but ninety four, and that still sounds like a lot.

Same thing with the email subscriptions.

Honestly, I found this to be my top time waster of anything I used to do.

I can’t remember who or where I heard it from… but a few years back, I remember someone saying you need to subscribe to all your competitors newsletters (to study what they are doing)… as well as Marketers lists who seem to know what they are doing… to see how they do it.

So I did.

Up until the last year or so… it wasn’t to bad.

Here lately though, it is truly out of control.

Here’s a link to his free Internet Marketing Cure ebook.

AAA Plan to Wealth

I like Joe Vitale.

I own many of his books.

I own his entire Hypnotic Marketing and Writing series... and a few others more along the lines of spirituality and such.

I think you will like this video... good stuff.

Joe Vitale ~ AAA Plan to Wealth

Mr Fire

Joe Vitale is one of my Mentors.

So you will know, I define a Mentor as someone you listen to… take guidance from, and basically heed what they say.

They have “Trustmark.”

This is not to say you do not waffle a bit and question what your Mentor(s) say at times — after all, they may be suggesting something you need to do that’s either foreign, or outside of your comfort zone.
